About the Role
Birth for HumanKIND is a not-for-profit organisation that provides free care, support and education to women experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage during pregnancy, child-birth and after the baby comes. We are a relatively young organision, currently in our fourth year of operation, located in Thornbury but servicing suburbs across Melbourne. We have a team of 40 volunteer doulas (or birth support workers) who provide one-on-one continuous care to our clients during their pregnancy, throughout their labour and chid-birth and during the newborn baby period. We have supported over 160 women to-date. We also provide education programs, including our ‘Mothering 101: A Crash Course for Young Pregnant women’, aimed at young pregnant women 25 years or younger, and our Navigating the Australian Maternal Health System workshop, aimed at recently arrived women from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds. We are a team of eight paid part-time staff, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
We have undergone an exciting period of change and growth in the past three months and now need to consolidate as a new team and unite in our vision for the future of the organisation. To this end we are holding a Strategic Planning day (or possibly two) in August 2017.
We’re looking for a great facilitator to volunteer their time for this. We will provide the agenda and arrange all logistics – we simply need a facilitator to be there on the day to guide the process and ensure all voices are being heard.
Date is TBC in August depending on your availability. The day will take place in Ivanhoe.
