About the role
Are you a certified fitness trainer who is passionate about exercise & mental health? Then we’d love to hear from you!
Mood Active is looking for trainers to run small group exercise classes as part of an 8-week program that helps people living with depression and anxiety. We provide the gym & the participants – you just need to turn up & train!
Mood Active is a non-profit based association. We run small group exercise classes (usually 3-6 people) targeted to people who’ve been diagnosed with a mood disorder (depression, anxiety etc) to help them get back on their feet. We are currently operating in the Eastern suburbs and City areas.
What commitment is required?
A minimum of 1 x 50-60 min body circuit (or similar) class per week for a minimum of 8-12 weeks at one of these locations:
– Camperdown
– The Rocks
– Kensington
– Kingsford
What skills & experience are required?
Essential
1. Insurance
2. Cert 4 in Personal Training or equivalent
3. Ability to build rapport and to listen and converse without judgment
4. High level of empathy and ability to motivate people in a supportive way
5. Own transport
Desirable
1. Lived experience and understanding of depression and anxiety
2. Police check preferred however we can support you in processing this
How do we support you?
Moor Active supports its trainers by providing a:
1. Induction with an experienced member of our team
2. Quarterly e-newsletter with updates on participant improvement & completion rates & the latest research on exercise & mental health
3. Quarterly gathering for Mood Active staff and volunteers
4. Fortnightly phone contact with the Program Manager & additional support as need
