Time required : various, during business hours, Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm.

Duration of project : 12 months plus

About the role

This type of volunteer role works predominantly autonomously as part of the Foster Care Team to perform Property Inspections for prospective Seeing Eye Dogs Foster carers. All prospective Foster carers undergo Risk Assessments, Police check & WWCC before volunteers will conduct the Property Inspections.

KEY DUTIES
The volunteer will:
 Perform the Seeing Eye Dogs Foster Carer Property Inspection
o Use the Seeing Eye Dogs Foster Carer Property Inspection checklist to indicate if property is suitable to house a Seeing Eye Dog, identifying any hazards or potential issues in the property and discussing solutions with the carer
o Write any notes required on the form and take pictures of the property as per the Seeing Eye Dog guidelines;
o Give information to new carers (Seeing Eye Dogs handout) about each Foster care program (respite, training, weekend);
o Give Seeing Eye Dogs Foster Care Manual to each new carer and try to answer any basic questions they may have, using the Manual as reference
o Note down any additional questions that cannot be answered

 Administration tasks
o Return Seeing Eye Dogs Property inspection form to the Foster Care team
o Send through pictures of the prospective Foster Carer’s property to the Foster Care team
o Forward any unanswered questions/queries the prospective Foster Carer had to the Foster Care team
o Perform all tasks accurately and in a timely manner to ensure operations run smoothly
o complete required data recording tasks to accurately record information about your volunteering activities
 Driving
o Pick-up & drop-off a Seeing Eye Dogs vehicle from Seeing Eye Dogs to transport yourself to and from the Property Inspection (if transportation is required)
o Ensure vehicles are left in a clean condition, with at least half a tank of petrol
