About the role

Operating from Melbourne’s CBD, Friend Line is a service for anyone in the general public feeling lonely or trying to prevent loneliness impacting upon them.

As a volunteer, it will be your role to have a friendly  chat with people who make contact on the telephone, chatting about everyday topics. This is not a crisis intervention or counselling service.

Volunteers will be required to undergo training. This service will be operating in the preventative space of friendly calls only.

You will answer incoming calls and have a friendly chat with people as well as completing simple data entry tasks during your shift.

Some of the skills and qualities we are looking for;
Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence
o  Previous volunteer experience is desirable but not necessary
o  Experience or willingness to learn about community organisations
o  Works well independently and as part of a team
o  Basic IT proficiency
o  National Police record check
o  Adhere to and promote the values and mission of Friends for Good
o  Commitment to volunteering
All volunteers must be prepared to call other volunteers and swap shifts with them if unavailable for a rostered shift.
