About the organisation

Organisation name : Green Dog Health & Wellbeing - Turning your black-dog green

GREEN DOG - Turning your black-dog green

Mental health strength and recovery through connecting with nature.

Green Dog is a hub of nature-based health and wellbeing programs, with a focus on awareness and recovery for people at risk or suffering from mental ill health.

Green Dog practitioners offers a wide variety of outdoor activities ranging from art to yoga. From relaxing strolls on the beach to vigorous hikes in the hills, there’s an activity to suit all our pack members. All this wrapped with a fun, dog-themed quirkiness.

We provide training to Green Dog practitioners in mental health awareness and recovery techniques resulting in individually designed programs that are client-centred, outcome-based and engaging.

Clients joining our Green Dog pack may suffer from mild to moderate mental health conditions. Client acquisition are referrals from allied health professional, via NDIS self managed funds, NGO service providers or self-referred.

Green Dog is still in its 'puppy stage' but we're ready to go for our first run (pilot) on the Sunshine Coast.

With support from experienced alternative therapy practitioners we will be piloting the following five  programs:

  • Paw Prints - Art
  • Downward Dog - Yoga
  • Diggity Dog - Gardening
  • Surf Dog - Standup Paddle-boarding
  • Top Dog - Hiking

This grant would help to fund some well needed 'puppy food' to develop the strategies to run a successful pilot program.
