About the role
Part of a pilot project for an exciting new not for profit organisation, Social Health Australia.
Volunteers will be paired with older adults at risk of isolation and loneliness, typically from dealing with illness, transition, grief or loss. The program is based upon a framework that suggests older adults mediate meaning and purpose through a number of lenses, we will engage participants in activities associated with two of them — the arts and nature — for the purpopse of prompting guided conversations. Volunteers will be required to complete a collaborative two-day induction workshop and have some reflective listening competencies. Participants will be provided with supervision and on-going support.
Previous professional experience in social work, age care, counselling, psychology or similar would be preferred but is not essential.
