About the role
Impact100 Melbourne is seeking effective and passionate volunteer Committee Members to lead this highly celebrated giving circle in 2020.
As a volunteer Committee Member, you will provide vital volunteer leadership by stewarding this giving circle, also known as a collective giving group, in its promotion, growth, governance and ongoing sustainability.
Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation (the Foundation), on behalf of Impact100 Melbourne, is looking for up to eight Committee Members to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations and internal/external stakeholder management of this membership-based giving circle. The Committee’s direct relationship with the Foundation is via the Foundation’s Chief Marketing & Development Officer.
About Impact100 Melbourne:
Impact100 Melbourne is a giving circle, also known as a collective giving group, and is a named sub-fund and giving account of Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.
The structure of Impact100 Melbourne is simple, 100 people donate $1,000 each per year to raise a total donation of $100,000. Donations are pooled to make one large grant to an eligible Melbourne non-profit organisation working to support that year’s focus area.
Impact100 Melbourne invites grant applications from nonprofit organisations who meet the fund’s criteria. These applications are shortlisted down to four, and the shortlist is reviewed and approved by the Foundation.
Shortlisted organisations present to Impact100 Melbourne Members at an annual Grant Awards event. Members then vote to recommend each year’s grant recipient.
Every member who donates $1,000 is provided one vote – whether they give $1,000 or $10,000. The Board of Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation approves the final decision. Donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible as Impact100 Melbourne is an established named sub-fund and giving account of Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation.

About the role:
As a volunteer Committee Member, you will help to lead and manage Impact100 Melbourne’s day-to-day operations, ongoing strategy and together with other Committee Members be responsible for Impact100 Melbourne and to its members. Committee Members are required to steward this collective giving group in its promotion, growth, governance and ongoing sustainability. Some of the desired requirements, skills and experience include, but are not limited to:
- A knowledge and passion for collective giving, philanthropy and strategic funding for charitable and non-profit organisations.
- Development and stakeholder engagement experience.
- A passion for and track record in securing members and developing business and personal relationships that contribute to financial growth and sustainability.
- Experience in planning and facilitating events.
- Experience in marketing & communications (including regular social media activity).
- Strong organisational governance and while not essential, an understanding of legal and accounting requirements.
