About the Role
INCH Housing Inc (INCH) is a non-profit association with charitable status and has been providing social and community housing since September 1991. Its core business is the provision and management of transitional and long term rental housing in the inner northern suburbs of metropolitan Brisbane to people on low incomes. INCH manages 155+ properties, across 5 different housing service lines.
INCH is governed by a volunteer Board (up to 8 members) who are drawn from a diverse range of professions to ensure the Board comprises the necessary skills, experience and drive to best support INCH in delivering transitional and Long term housing to people on low incomes. INCH’s workforce consists of 8 paid staff (2 full time and 6 part time workers), 3 volunteers and 8 University students.
INCH’s membership averages between 30-35 members annually, a large majority of whom are current or ex-tenants of properties managed by INCH. Other members are Board members, staff, community service providers, volunteers and general community members.

Our Clients: INCH’s clients are people who have high or very high needs (as defined by the Department of Housing and Public Works) and identify as belonging in one of the following social groups:
• People with disabilities or mental health issues; Indigenous people; people escaping domestic violence; homeless people; youth and older people; low income single people and people from international cultures
Our Partners: INCH works in partnership with
• Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works, which provides funding for transitional housing programs and head leasing arrangements for long term housing
• Brisbane City Council, which provides head leasing arrangements for the homelessness program
• A diverse range of community services, government agencies and local businesses, who provide support options and assistance to our clients
The Role of the Real Estate Board Member
The INCH Board is seeking a Board member who has demonstrated experience in the real estate industry and who has participated at a high level in the governance of a charity association.
This Board member will be responsible for overseeing INCH’s Strategic goals as they relate to the development of an INCH real estate agency to generate additional revenue, and will be expected to participate in meetings of INCH’s Business Sub-Committee which currently includes, INCH’s President, other Board members, CEO and staff.
