About the role

The Karenni National College (KnNC) is a higher-education community college in Ban Nai Soi village, Mae Hong Son Province, North Thailand. KnNC is a multi-ethnic college offering a three-year tertiary program. We are seeking experienced and independent volunteers to enrich the learning of our students.

OUR PROGRAM

KnNC strives to be an avenue of development for students, nurturing them academically, socially, and psychologically. We want to equip students with the knowledge and skills to serve their community and move towards a sustainably-developed future. To do this, we rely on the efforts of our volunteers. Our graduates tend to be recruited into teaching and other education positions by secondary schools within nearby refugee camps or within the education department. Others have been able to find work with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) or community-based organisations (CBOs) in the refugee camps or in Myanmar. This is an opportunity to make a real difference. For more information, see our Volunteer Program Information Sheet.

YOUR ROLE

KnNC is seeking Australian volunteers for a variety of teaching and training projects ranging from short term to 12 months. The college is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on the compassion and efforts of its volunteers. We have a set curriculum and we will be able to give you outlines of the areas for you to deliver as your placement is negotiated.

Key Accountabilities:

• Commit to agreed placement time-frame and agreed work-load.

• Teach classes as agreed.

• Work in an interdisciplinary manner across subject areas.

• Assist with the development of curriculum.
