About the Role

FareShare uses rescued and donated food to cook free, nutritious meals for those most in need.

Guided by professional chefs, our kitchen volunteers chop, prepare, cook and pack thousands of meals each week for those in need, while saving food from waste.

Our kitchen in Morningside, Brisbane, is currently under construction, but we are recruiting volunteers now so we have all hands on deck for our first shifts at the start of October, 2018. Our shifts are approximately 3.5 hours in length and include a half hour break for morning or afternoon tea.

Our kitchen is bright, spacious and air conditioned, and is a place where our volunteers create meaningful connections and enjoy a sense of community, while cooking meals for people in need. This is an exciting time for FareShare – in collaboration with Foodbank, we will see over 1.25 million meals cooked and distributed a year! We look forward to building upon our volunteer community in Brisbane to help make this happen.

Morning and afternoon weekday shifts are available with evening and weekend shifts being added in early 2019. No experience is required.

If you would like to volunteer with us please follow this link to the FareShare website, where you can read more about FareShare and complete the new volunteer registration form.
