About the role

Do you have a passion for social justice and smashing the stigma associated with mental health challenges? Do you love getting out into your local community and supporting others to engage with their community? If yes, Life in Community (LinC) is the program for you!

LinC matches volunteers one on one with people recovering from mental health challenges to get out into their local community to work on community orientated goals. LinC volunteers are guided by the person they’re matched with, by finding out what ‘community’ means to them and how they would like to participate. LinC volunteers are aware that everyone’s experience of belonging to community is different and they are respectful of this.

Meetings go for an hour or two every week or fortnight out in community spaces for a period of three months. Activities may include going for coffee, joining a group or class, going to the gym, libraries, local neighbourhood houses, walks, bike rides or even a round of mini golf.

Training and ongoing support will be provided.
