In their lifetime 1 in 7 Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, 23 years ago Louise Davidson and Mavis Robertson decided to do something about that and started the Mother’s Day Classic, two decades later the little fun run that could has raised over $37 million for breast cancer research.

MDC Foundation governs the Mother’s Day Classic, the nationwide walk/run event that raises funds for breast cancer research. MDCF currently has an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate. The board is currently looking to fill a general board member vacancy and join us in a mission to rid the world of breast cancer.

Who is the MDC Foundation Limited:

MDC Foundation Ltd as trustee for Mother’s Day Classic Foundation is a company limited by guarantee, and a public company with charitable status (MDC Foundation Limited). All proceeds from the MDCF are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports research into breast cancer prevention and treatment. As Australia’s most inspirational, cause driven community event, the Mother’s Day Classic is also proud to be the largest single donor to the National Breast Cancer Foundation .

About the Board:

The board is comprised of directors with a diverse range of skills. These skills range from accounting, legal, risk management and governance, people and culture, to marketing, business strategy, technology/digital and CEO experience. The board is a strong, collaborative team united by our common purpose.

Appointment period:

These board positions would be appointed until 2023.

Skills and experience:

The Board is particularly interested to hear from applicants with strong fundraising experience.  It is expected also that applicants will have an understanding of the Not-for-Profit ethos and experience/skills in one or more of the following (in addition to fundraising experience):

• Digital Customer Experience;
• Major Events;
• Sponsorship / Marketing.
