Time required : Board meetings are held in Melbourne four times a year for approximately 2 hours. In addition, the board holds a half-day strategy meeting and an AGM, both of which are linked to a regular board meetings. Directors are also required to attend the Mother’s Day Classic at a location of your choosing and the October Celebration function in Melbourne where we announce the donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

About the role

MDC Foundation Limited board member vacancy (x 2)

In their lifetime 1 in 8 Australian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, 21 years ago Louise Davidson and Mavis Robertson decided to do something about that and started the Mother’s Day Classic, two decades later the little fun run that could has raised $33.2 million for breast cancer research.

MDC Foundation governs the Mother’s Day Classic, the nationwide walk/run event that raises funds for breast cancer research. MDCF currently have two outstanding opportunities for the right candidates. The board is currently looking for two individuals to fill two general board member vacancies and join us in a mission to rid the world of breast cancer.

Who is the MDC Foundation Limited:

MDC Foundation Ltd as trustee for Mother’s Day Classic Foundation is a company limited by guarantee, and a public company with charitable status (MDC Foundation Limited). All proceeds from the MDCF are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports research into breast cancer prevention and treatment. Our aim is to raise $40m by 2020.

About the Board:

The board is comprised of directors with a diverse range of skills. These skills range from industry superannuation experience, accounting, legal, risk management and governance, people and culture, to marketing, business strategy and CEO experience. The board is a strong, collaborative team united by our common purpose.

Appointment period:

These board positions would be appointed until 2021.

Skills and experience:

It is expected that applicants will have an understanding of the Not-for-Profit ethos and experience/skills in one or more of the following:

  • Digital Customer Experience;
  • Major Events;
  • Fundraising; and/or
  • Sponsorship / Marketing.
