About the role
Would you like to make a difference in a young person’s life?
The Helping Hand Project is a community-based organisation. Our vision is to provide youth of refugee background with supportive Mentors, so that they can achieve their goals and reach their dreams.
We are currently recruiting new volunteer Mentors who live work or study in City of Melbourne, Moonee Valley, Maribyrnong or Brimbank.
Volunteer Mentors will be matched with participants aged between 14-23 based on their skills and shared interests. The Mentor meets with their Mentee on an ongoing basis, developing a relationship that supports and encourages the participant’s transition and settlement into community.
Volunteers commit to a 12-month period, approximately 1-2 hours per week or fortnight, in order to allow time to build a strong relationship.
We provide Mentors with training and support. Mentors have access to culturally sensitive training and regular monthly ongoing support.
