Volunteer Management Mentoring Programme

Volunteer West is an organisation that promotes and inspires participation in volunteering, while building the capacity of volunteer involving organisations. Since establishment in 2006, we have matched over 9,500 people with volunteering opportunities across the West of Melbourne.

With funding provided by the Victoria Government, Volunteer West is offering a FREE Training and Mentoring Program to volunteer managers for 24 small not-for-profit organisations in the Western suburbs of Melbourne in the first half of 2019.

The training will help organisations to develop and improve a volunteer programme that can

  • attract and recruit more volunteers
  • supervise, support and engage volunteers more efficiently, and
  • improve their capacity building in volunteer management

SO WHY DO WE NEED MENTORS?

We often find that even after trainings, organisations might still be lack of confidence and encouragement to apply what they learn into practice. Therefore, we are looking for mentors that can provide further support to organisations so they can apply the training knowledge to their specific needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience in volunteer management or leadership
  • Commitment of 2 hours/week for a period of 3 or 6 months during January to June 2019
  • Flexibility around mentoring outside of business hours.

This mentoring programme can be an excellent professional development opportunity and a great way for you to use your skills and experience to give back to the community and help make an difference to these limited resource organisations.
