About the role
Key Into Australia is looking for volunteers Mentors, looking to support newly arrived migrant women in Sydney. Here is an opportunity for you to share your insights of living in Australia and supporting mentees, to develop confidence in a new society, workplace, and culture.
In return, you will be developing your own mentoring, communication, and leadership skills. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and enhance your cross-cultural competencies.
Migrants bring with them many talents, skills, and international experience,
however, they need information and networks to succeed. We are now
looking for volunteers interested in making a difference in the life
of migrant women who lack local connections.
Key into Australia carefully matches newly arrived migrant women with a
mentor, whose role is to provide support and encouragement and who
themselves are familiar with the experiences and challenges of
reallocation.
Mentors will spend 2 -3 hours a week over a 3-4 month period to meet and connect with migrant women individually
Your mentee might want to discuss cultural differences she has
noticed, talk about her personal dreams or career objectives, or
simply chat about their week. The journey of your mentoring can move
in many directions, including friendship or career coaching.
Training and support will be available to assist you in fulfilling your role.
You don’t have to be an expert or come from a particular profession.
This role is suited to someone who is passionate about our vision of
supporting migrant women in
their settlement process.
### **Requirements**
* Have the rights to work in Australia
* A personal understanding or experience of the cause of migrant women
would be a plus.
* Previous experience as a mentor would be beneficial
About the organisation
Key Into Australia Inc., a not-for-profit organization is a support
network for migrant women to help them feel at home, make friends,
find a job, and get involved in the community. We promote better
integration and active participation of migrant women within the
socio-economic life of Australian society. Our work is about
strengthening social cohesion and promoting harmony and intercultural
understanding. We are a small but growing volunteer team of women,
dedicated to creating a supportive and welcoming environment for
international women in Sydney.
