Multiple Volunteer Positions Available
Put Them First is a Brisbane based not-for-profit that started as a conversation between two passionate foster carers back in 2017 and has since grown into a small group of dedicated volunteers and advocates. Due to continued growth, we are seeking additional volunteer superstars to join our team!
About Put Them First…
At Put Them First, we are committed to making positive changes in the current care system because we believe that every child has the right to love, care and protection and this extends to those children in the alternative care environment. What began as an exchange of ideas and similar experiences, has now become a determination to raise awareness of the issues around children in alternative care and also, to make a real difference in their lives.
Some current practices for children between 0 and 2 years old going into foster care, can result in significant trauma. The care system faces many resource and support challenges which need to be urgently addressed, so that carers can go back to what is essentially their most important role – to put the safety and wellbeing of the child first. This is where we come in.
Our immediate priorities are to create safe and appropriate spaces for visitations (our Lullaby House initiative), making nappy bags available for carers to support babies going into their care from hospital and the delivery of mentoring programs for carers and biological parents to support reunification. Being a Volunteer at Put Them First…
We have a number of exciting initiatives that we are executing however their success depends on the support, dedication and experience of our amazing team. This is where you come in.
We are looking for additional volunteer superstars who have expertise in any of the following:
- Marketing (primarily to increase community awareness and engagement)
- Human Resources (i.e. policy and process documentation)
- Legal
- Social media platform management and engagement
- Document writing (i.e. training and marketing collateral)
- Grant submissions
- Project management
- General administration
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified candidates who have:
- 2-4 hours a week to dedicate to PTF
- Availability to join a fortnightly meeting
- Drive, energy and enthusiasm to help achieve what is needed
- A genuine interest in being a contributing member of the team
- Ability to think outside of the box to help make a little go a long way!
Although PTF was born in 2017, we are still at the beginning of our journey. This is an incredible opportunity for a passionate group of individuals to join our organisation at this early stage to play a key role in delivering our initiatives to support vulnerable children in our community.
