We also provide a range of training and development programs for providers, services and educators.  Informing our work, as a peak, is our operation of Enhance Family Dare Care services. In addition, we also operate the In Home Care Support Agency in Queensland and Victoria

We are a value based, not-for-profit organisation, with a positive and supportive workplace culture; recognising that the key to achieving our purpose is our people!

About the role

FDCAQ is a company limited by guarantee and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission. We have a constituted Board of Directors, featuring a mix of member appointed and independent Directors. We are currently looking to appoint additional Independent Directors.

The duties of the Board of Directors include (but are not be limited to):

  • Providing strategic leadership, vision and business acumen;
  • Ensuring policies on key issues are established and addressed;
  • Providing innovative / new ways of thinking;
  • Promoting and enhancing the profile and integrity of the organisation;
  • Acting honestly and in good faith, at all times, and in the interests of the organisation.

 Directors may be required to sit on a specialist sub-committee and make themselves available to attend social and public functions, held by the organisation.

You will be joining a team of Directors who will be the driving force in implementing the strategic direction of the organisation during this challenging and exciting period of change and opportunity.

There is a strategic imperative for our organisation to chart the way forward for a vibrant, high quality and viable sector, that delivers exceptional home-based early education and care for children and families.

This role is an unpaid, voluntary position. We estimate a time commitment of approximately eight to ten hours per month, including meeting time and preparation.  Board meetings are held monthly and run for approximately two and a half hours.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity for a business and community leader to be involved in the future of the Family Day Care sector.  You believe, like we do, that successful future start early.  You are passionate about children and early childhood development and the importance it plays in the lives of individuals, families and our broader community.

We are looking for accomplished professionals whose acumen will translate seamlessly into the Board environment and possess:

  • High level strategic thinking and leadership;
  • Strong business acumen, sound financial literacy and risk management skills;
  • Well-developed communication skills, with a collaborative approach in making an active contribution to strategic and Board discussion.

As a peak body and a member association, we are particularly interested in candidates who may also have skills and experience in government relations, policy and advocacy, member relations, marketing and communications.

You are a strong communicator who will apply your strategic skills in the area of your expertise, as well as contributing more broadly to the general business of the Board.

Previous experience on Boards is desirable, but not essential. Graduates of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Course, or similar, will be highly regarded. Knowledge of the Australian Early Child Childhood Education and Care environment is valued but not necessary.
