About the role
Non-Executive volunteer directors are sought to augment and further diversify the board membership and expand capabilities in strategic planning, business development, finance, HR and legal.
The role of our boards is to determine the strategic direction of our organisation in line with continuing developments of the NDIS, the disability sector and the broader community services sector and ensure the sustainability of the organisation.
The boards provide oversight and guidance on corporate governance, management of our financial assets, strategic planning, appoint and monitor the performance of our CEO and represent our organisation in the community.
We are seeking to recruit board members who possess a passion to be involved in the not-for-profit sector, respect the right of people living with a disability to live the life they choose and are willing to promote and support increasing social inclusion.
The operating entity of the organisation is a committed team with a strong focus on positive outcomes for our clients. Our innovative Gig Buddies Sydney initiative underlines our passion for ‘making a difference’ for people with mild to moderate learning disabilities and autism and promoting social inclusion.
As a minimum, board members should expect to participate in approximately 8 to 10 board meetings per annum, one of the board subcommittees, review board papers and policies, annual strategic planning workshop and potentially representing the organisation at external meetings. The business is embarking on an exciting phase of transition and development and during this period we see the need for increased director involvement.
New directors will be provided an induction program including access to sector online training, introduction to a number of clients, visit to one or more of our group homes and attendance at a GigBuddies event.
ACL is an equal opportunity employer and would value applications from people with the lived experience of disability.
Previous or current Board experience will be highly regarded.
