———————————————————————————————
SidebySide Cancer Care was founded in 2016 by Dr Andrew Casey and Brad Lewthwaite from a simple idea of helping those who suffer from Cancer
In 2009, while Andrew was studying medicine at UNSW, cancer became a large part of his life. His Father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and his Mother with breast cancer within one week of each other. He experienced first hand the effects a long and difficult cancer journey has on patients, and their families and supporters
While working at St Vincent’s Hospital it became clear that his parents’ journey was not an uncommon one. He teamed with his close friend Brad, with little more than a drive to help make that journey easier
It was through discussion with the Kinghorn Cancer Centre that the idea for SidebySide was born.
Clinical Care Coordinator Nurses are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team in cancer management. They are a consistent source of information, providing support for patients & their families. From cancer diagnosis through all stages of treatment & follow-up care
Significant funding shortfalls for this crucial role was a clear unmet need. SidebySide’s vision is to fill that need
