About the role

Are you a compassionate person with some time to give?

Our new palliative care service, O’Neill House in Prahran, is opening soon and we’re looking for volunteers to fill a variety of new and fulfilling roles! You will be part of a special team, volunteering non-clinical support, care and practical help for people at the last stage of their lives, and their loved ones.

There is a huge variety of roles, with tasks including: companionship, respite care for families, making cups of tea, baking cakes, creating art, playing music, poetry reading, arranging fresh flowers, tidying up, mending clothes, restocking fridges, gardening, hand massage, accompanying residents to the Chapel, assisting with technology, animal visits, delivering books, culturally linguistic roles, to name a few!

All volunteers will be given a full induction and ongoing support. Volunteers need to undertake three, three-hour workshops prior to starting their roles in late June.

Screening checks, including a police check and other relevant compliance checks, must be undertaken prior to commencement.

If you’re interested, please call 1800 036 377 or email volunteers@vmch.com.au
