Organisation : Accounting for International Development
Location : New South Wales (PERU)
Time required : Full time
Duration of project : 2-4 Weeks
Sector : Children, Education & Employment, Foundations, Trusts & Philanthropy, Government, Health – General, Overseas Aid & Development, Women
About the role
A unique opportunity is available for an experienced accountant (CPA/CMA or equivalent) to share their accounting and finance skills with a not-for-profit organisation in Peru for up to 4 weeks.
Background
Based in Peru’s scenic Sacred Valley, our partner is a Peruvian NGO with a mission to promote health in the underserved rural communities. They have requested support to help assess, improve and streamline their accounting processes, as well assistance to transitioning to QuickBooks. Their programs include training and supporting local people, who are elected by their community, to become health care providers for their communities. Each community health worker takes on a leadership role in their village and becomes the community’s frontline health care provider.
Your Role
As the first AfID volunteer to support this NGO, you will begin with an internal review of their existing procedures, systems and controls, making your own assessment and recommendations for best practices, taking into consideration the resources and capacity of the team. If time allows, they would also benefit from support in developing an annual report, as they have not had one since creation.
