Hepatitis Australia is a well-respected peak community organisation and key partner in the Australian response to viral hepatitis. The organisation is committed to progressing national action on issues of importance to people affected by hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Its vision is to end viral hepatitis as a health concern in Australia by 2030; the organisation is on track to achieve this goal. As the peak national community body for viral hepatitis in Australia, the organisation works in partnership with its eight state and territory member organisations to collaborate with governments, clinicians, other peak bodies and professional organisations, researchers and community organisations.
Hepatitis Australia is seeking an experienced and active President to chair the Board and lead the organisation through its next positive chapter. You will be responsible for ensuring the Board is clear on its purpose and that individuals and the organisation more broadly, are aligned. Your strong commitment to governance will facilitate open and constructive communications by all board members and ensure optimal board performance. Using your exemplary leadership skills you will work with and support the organisation’s CEO and you will maintain oversight of the organisation’s strategic performance, financial position and other significant issues and ensure board members are appropriately informed.
You will have significant Board / Chair experience and a demonstrated commitment to improving health outcomes and advancing social justice in Australia. You will provide an independent and broad lens across governance matters and have a good understanding of not-for-profit governance (experience in fundraising would be helpful but not essential). Leveraging your strong relationship and influencing skills you will have the gravitas and confidence to publicly represent the organisation and play an advocacy role on behalf of the organisation and you will be prepared to influence and engage appropriate networks.
