About the Role
The role will be focused on assisting in the development of frameworks including policies and procedures that support the ongoing operation and growth of the Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council in the field of fundraising and the establishment of an Environmental Foundation.
The Land Council operates across 4 Local Government Areas which include Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Wingecarribee. Our mandate is to provide opportunities and services particularly as they relate to land and culture to all Aboriginal people within our boundary.
As part of this mandate we are seeking assistance to establish a foundation to support the endeavours of the Land Council, to operate maintain and enhance the environmental and cultural connections of our communities to the lands within our region. It is our view that this not only places the responsibility of managing the environment where it will enhance the values and beliefs of Aboriginal people, but also create a better environment for the whole community.
Over the next 12 months we anticipate significant change to our operating environment and this role and the outcomes that it achieves will significantly progress the economic and social position of Aboriginal people within our region.
The person we require will need to be self directed with a strong understanding of the development and establishment of a fundraising strategy which includes the creation of a fundraising foundation.
