Time required : We are looking for a volunteer able to regularly commit to a 5 hour session once a month or fortnight on either Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.
Duration of project : In order to provide continuity for our program, we look for an intended minimum commitment of 12 months.

About the role
Volunteer your professional hairdressing skills to support parents of children undergoing cancer treatment at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, NSW.
The Redkite Family Wellbeing Program at the Children’s Hospital Westmead provides practical and emotional support to families on the ward and in the out-patient clinic.
Our small team of hairdressers, massage therapists and beauty therapists offer much needed respite to parents whose child is receiving cancer treatment at the hospital. Some of these parents may not have returned to their family home for many months and are often unable to leave the hospital even for short periods of time.
The Family Wellbeing volunteers offer parents an opportunity to take a short break from the demands of caring for a sick child within a hospital setting. By volunteering your time and skills to this program, you can allow a parent a moment for some personal care and relaxation during a very difficult time.
We will provide you with a suitable space in the hospital for parents to come and visit you for their appointment. We ask that you bring your own scissors, clips and electrical equipment. We will reimburse you for all of the consumable products that you use (shampoo, conditioner, dye, spray etc).
We provide refreshments and cover the cost of car parking at the hospital.
