About the role

Are you our next grant writer?

Spinal Home Help was incorporated in 2013 by a dedicated team of volunteers with spinal cord injury (SCI) and their families, and has worked hard ever since to provide the peer support, referrals, information and encouragement that people with SCI and their loved ones may need when they’re managing the move from hospital to home after injury. As we’re a small organisation that doesn’t receive any funding, we do all our own fundraising and fund-seeking, receiving most of our income from grants and philanthropic funding. We are looking for a dedicated, experienced and passionate volunteer or volunteers who can help to take on grant-writing duties within Spinal Home Help.

The Grant Writer will work closely with our President and other SHH volunteers to prepare the grant applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research into available grants and other funding opportunities
  • Researching requirements and suitability of available grants
  • Seeking information from funding bodies, community groups and potential project partners
  • Collaborate closely with the President in grant proposal preparation, where required
  • Write and prepare grant applications, any supporting documents and working with our organisation’s Finance Officer to manage grant acquittals
  • Other related duties as necessary

  • Documented grant seeking/grant writing experience
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

This position would require a minimum of 2 hours per week, either at the Spinal Home Help Office (Moorooka), or the volunteer may work from home.

This is a volunteer position and can be shared, so if you have excellent experience on just one or two platforms, we would encourage you to apply.
