About the role

Southern Suburbs Group Training (SSGT), trading as Apprenticeship & Traineeship Employment Partners (ATEP) is a well-established community based Group Training Organisation (GTO), turning 30 next year.

Year in year out we employ around 200 apprentices and trainees, placing them with suitable employers (Host Employers) for the duration of their apprenticeship or traineeship.

Youth employment pathways is high on our agenda and our commitment to giving young people a fair go is well documented; whether it be through information activities in schools and Tafe’s, our Vocational Scholarship program or the SBAT Community Partnership Projects we have developed.

 

Position overview:

ATEP have just been awarded 2 new government contracts and is searching for a Special Project Manager to be responsible for their delivery, implementation and management.

  • The first is the Multi Industry School Based Apprenticeship Support Pilot Project (MIP) which has 2 main objectives: to provide businesses with greater access to appropriately skilled workers and to improve job prospects for young people.
  • The second is the Jobs Victoria Employment Network Project (JVEN) which will assist unemployed and disadvantaged Victorians to gain ongoing employment.

 

Key roles and Responsibilities:

  • Take a lead in the development and implementation of a strategy for the delivery of these government funded projects which will include:
  • Identifying eligible students and young job seekers
  • Attracting suitable host employers
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with third party organisations appropriate to the needs of the projects (schools, job service providers…)
  • Ensuring objectives and KPIs are achieved
  • Provide reports on the progress and governance of the project Manage a case load including:
  • Matching suitable candidates to host employers
  • Providing high quality support to both employee and host employer through regular monitoring visits and mentoring
  • Ensuring objectives are reached

 

Key attributes:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Vocational Education and Training and managing complex projects.
  • Knowledge of the implementation of work experience contracts, school based, pre apprenticeship and apprenticeship training programs.
  • Demonstrate commitment to youth employment and working with disadvantaged cohorts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to discuss issues with people of all levels and backgrounds.
  • Proven contract administration and project coordination experience.
  • Be self-driven and highly motivated, with personal qualities of integrity and credibility demonstrated through career achievements
  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Highly developed computer skills including Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a small team environment.

 

Qualification / Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ of experience in the field of Vocational Education and Training and coordinating complex projects and employment programs, resulting in proven outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualification will be advantage
  • Highly developed computer skills including Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Current Driver’s License and car
  • Police Check and Working with Children’s Check
