About the Role
Lively is a social enterprise that employs young jobseekers to spend meaningful time with older people, helping them learn how to use technology to stay connected. Through our service, we create mutually beneficial connections across the generations, and address the significant rates of social isolation amongst older people in the community.
We’re currently launching an exciting new project – the Lively Kombi Project – and are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to drive the project forward. The Lively Kombi is a vintage Kombi van decked out with a coffee machine, kitchenette, outdoor lounge and iPads, which will take groups of young helpers on the road to provide friendly technology help sessions to seniors over coffee, cake and conversation.
The Kombi project is an outreach tool to connect with older people who may be isolated from existing technology help services, or find them too intimidating. In a friendly and informal setting, we aim to give older people the opportunity to explore new technology and find new ways of connecting with people, pursuing their interests and accessing services and information.
Earlier this year, we trialled the Kombi concept with a hired Kombi at a number of seniors’ centres. After receiving rave reviews from participants, we’re now seeking corporate sponsors to fund the Kombi and get it on the road! That’s where you come in…
We’re seeking a volunteer to identify funding and partnership opportunities, prepare sponsorship proposals and help lock in funding to obtain our very own Kombi. When we do, we’re also looking for someone to help manage the physical fit-out of the van, to start marketing and booking Kombi sessions at retirement villages, community centres and seniors’ centres, and to obtain media coverage for the Kombi project.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
This opportunity would suit a student or early career starter looking for an exciting project management/marketing case study on their CV, or a marketing professional with time to contribute to a community cause. We’re looking for somebody with:
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to positively represent our brand
– A proactive, outgoing nature
– Excellent self-management skills and the ability to exercise initiative to move the project forward
You will ideally work out of our office space on Southbank for 6-8 hours per week. Hours and working location are flexible. A minimum of three months on the project is requested.
