About the Role
Based in scenic Tanzania, our partner works to support families who are materially poor (earning less than $1 per day) in rural communities, through providing Goats as a means of sustainable nutrition and income.
Our partner works with families in 11 villages in the Karatu District, supporting almost 300 families to date. Through a microloan scheme with dairy goats, they provide training in agriculture, animal husbandry, entrepreneurship, savings and biblical values. Their project aims to provide food for the family and access to education and medical care. They provide families with dairy goats and programme participants receive training on how to care for their goats and maintain small businesses. They also facilitate monthly site meetings where families can share stories, ideas and join collective savings groups from which they can access further loans.
The organisation is looking for a volunteer financial adviser to help them plan for the future. You would be the second AfID volunteer, with responsibilities to review their progress and provide further training where needed. The organisation is planning to build a farm and would like help developing financial forecasting and projections for this, as well as streamlining their internal international processes and assessing whether they are ready to move on to accrual accounting.
This is a unique opportunity to support some of the poorest families in rural communities. Your skills will help the organisation to continue this vital development work and provide you with invaluable and memorable experiences in the third sector. If you are looking to make a difference and work with some truly inspirational people, we would love to hear from you.
