About the South Coast Writers Centre

The South Coast Writers Centre supports the creation and enjoyment of Australian literature through the provision of creative and professional development, literary events and audience growth across the New South Wales South Coast. With offices based in Wollongong, the Centre aims to promote regional writers and writing in Australia while fostering creative and professional development for South Coast writers. The development of existing and new audiences for writers and writing is strongly supported, and the distinct literary cultures of the South Coast are valued and sustained. The Centre always strives for the inclusion of South Coast writers in Australian literary culture and ultimately endeavours to maintain social inclusion, access, equity and the participation of members in all aspects of the Centre. The South Coast Writers Centre is a membership-based, incorporated not-for-profit organisation supported by Arts NSW and Wollongong City Council.

Seeking Committee of Management members

• We are seeking members to join the board at our AGM in both general committee positions and specifically for the position of treasurer.
• For the general positions, we would specifically like to invite people from the community who are able to bring business expertise, such as in human resources or arts law.
• For the position of Treasurer, we seek someone who has skills in financial management and is able to present financial reports, understand risk management, and ensure the company’s long-term viability.
• For all committee positions, please note that as SCWC is a not-for-profit with a public fund. Committee members are expected to play an active role in fundraising and promoting the organisation through their networks.

The Board serves on a voluntary basis and meets for two hours every second month in Wollongong to discuss our governance, fiscal management, development, and artistic program.
