About the organisation

Organisation Name : Canterbury City Community Centre Inc
Canterbury City Community Centre is a dynamic not-for-profit community organisation based in Lakemba and serving diverse communities in the Canterbury-Bankstown and Inner West local government areas. We are committed to building a strong resilient community which values and includes each member. Our motto is Community Building Community and we work closely with our communities to develop and deliver programs which meet local needs and foster inclusion, harmony and an improved quality of life. We encourage community residents to get involved through membership, volunteering, or participating in our activities. We currently provide a range of services through our Aged Care, Community Engagement and Learning and Development programs. We deliver home-care packages as an Approved Aged Care Provider and Garden Care and Social Inclusion and Wellness Services for older people under the Commonwealth Home Support Program. Support for migrants, humanitarian entrants and refugees who have settled in Lakemba and surrounding communities is a key focus of our community engagement work. We are also a site for formal and informal adult education activities that give residents an opportunity to build their own and community capacity. Our Skills Training and Resource Service (STARS) provides affordable, accessible and appropriate training for volunteers, Board members and staff to support the Community Aged Care and Disability Sectors broadly, including our own Commonwealth Home Support Program. Please see www.4cs.org.au for details. We enjoy a strong reputation for inclusive and quality services, and have experienced rapid growth in recent years despite challenges in the sectors in which we work. We currently employ close to 35 staff and 120 volunteers, and have an annual operating budget of $2 million. The Organisation is facing challenges in how we monitor and spend our funds as we move from block funding models to funding which is tied to consumer spending.
