About the role
The Treasurer role is a very rewarding and diverse role of financial management involving, but not limited to: transaction processing, oversight, reporting and compliance; to ensure financial integrity and sustainability.
The position is largely autonomous, with some team-work required at events and two meetings monthly.
FINANCE:
You will have at least three years’ experience in a position of financial responsibility; Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, handling cash, performing reconciliations and resolving queries in a timely manner.
Qualifications – Bookkeeping or Accounting certification is preferable.
ADMINISTRATION:
You are comfortable relating to supporters, especially face-to-face at fundraising events.
You have high level: communication skills (written and verbal), attention to detail and ability to know your way around a database or be willing to learn.
YOU WILL NEED TO:
Attend two meetings per month in St Kilda – our inspiring and welcoming monthly Committee meetings in the evenings, and a catch up with our Executive Officer.
Obtain a Working with Children Check (Volunteer).
EXAMPLE OF TASKS:
Loading/approving bank payments
Handling cash and processing EFTPOS transactions at events
Data entry into accounting package
Bank Reconciliations
Regular checking of internal accounts and bank statements.
Managing group email Inbox
Assisting in preparation and monitoring of Budgets and Forecasting.
Presenting Financial Reports for end of month committee meetings, AGM and ad hoc requests.
Regulatory reporting to ACNC, CAV etc.
ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENT:
2-3 hours per week / 1 day per month.
About the organisation
AKC gives monetary grants, allowing children to participate in cultural, artistic, musical, sporting and educational activities; enhancing a child’s wellbeing through inclusion. AKC also runs a ground-breaking initiative - the Arts Bus - an arts studio on wheels that delivers programs to children at their location.
Funds are raised via an annual art auction, events, donations and grants. AKC is a highly regarded small charity that has been changing lives for over 25 years. AWe have a broad and active committee and a strong community-focused Board.
