About the role
VJ Books Coordinator is part of the Ondru team and is required to promote and sell VJ Books using available ethical sources.
The position is responsible for:
• Interacting with wider public and promote the sale of the books;
• Assisting the customers to make their purchases;
• Communicating with the customers via emails and telephone calls and answer queries;
• Visiting cafes, retail stores and small businesses to promote and sell books;
• Communicating with the customers and convince them how the books would be useful to them, convey details of any discount offer and schemes, and recommend purchase;
• Visiting schools, offices, and commercial centers to sell books for their libraries. Aim for a bulk order from the organisations;
• Sourcing opportunities and set up book stalls in conferences/festivals around Melbourne or where relevant to sell the books and promote Ondru;
• Dealing with mail order, email and web-based orders;
• Handling payments by cash, credit card;
• Maintaining a record of the books sold every day and
• Identifying and engaging potential partners through book sales and enhancing Ondru’s partnerships.
Key Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated experience in retailing or any other experience which demonstrates your ability to work with the public, communicate effectively and work as part of a team;
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
3. Demonstrated experience in sales, marketing and relationship building;
4. Passionate about providing quality service that supports and develops others;
5. An interest in, and knowledge of the arts and/or, the book retail sector;
6. Computer literacy skills; and
7. Commitment to Ondru policies and values.
