About Us

The Currajong School is a registered co-educational, independent specialist school located in East Malvern, catering for primary-aged students with specific needs, with a focus on social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

The school’s goal is to work intensively with children to develop the learning and coping strategies which will allow them to re-enter mainstream education with healthy self-respect, established work habits and acceptable behaviours. To achieve this goal, children are treated respectfully as individuals, given responsibility for their own behavioural choices, taught to be resourceful in solving problems and accepted as valued members of the school community.

As a member of the Board, you will be responsible for contributing to and supporting The Currajong School in the following key areas:

  • The Vision, Mission, key Values and School Principles
  • The Strategic Plan and major directions
  • The appointment, provision of support and performance review of the Principal
  • Ensuring the School’s compliance with its legal obligations, specifically, “Ministerial Order 870 – Child Safe Standards – Managing the risk of child abuse in schools”
  • Determining and approving all policies governing School operations
  • Approving the annual School budget and long-term budget or financial projections/goals
  • Approving material expenditure outside the budget
  • Appointment of the independent auditor
  • Maintaining confidentiality and privacy in all matters relating to The Currajong School

About You

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting
  • CA/CPA qualification
  • Minimum 3 years work experience within a Professional Services Accounting Firm
  • Demonstrable skills which include the following areas; non-profit governance, communication, inter-personal, financial, analytical, strategic, educational, reasoning, empathy, relationship/people skills, listening & integrity
  • You will be required to obtain a Working With Children Check (Vic) and provide a copy of your COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
  • Upon appointment as a Director, obtain a Director ID number via myGovID.
