About the Role
Women and Mentoring – WAM Limited is seeking a part-time bookkeeper in Collingwood. Our previous volunteer has retired after more than four years in the role.
WAM is an early intervention, community based crime prevention program for adult women who are being charged, or are likely to be charged, with a criminal offence. Volunteer mentors are recruited, trained and supervised to provide support for offending women presenting at various Magistrates’ Courts.
The program currently runs in five courts across Melbourne, and will expand to further courts in the future. It is funded by a combination of State Government funding, philanthropic grants, individual donations and in-kind support.
Participants are referred to the program from various sources including Victoria Police, Corrections, Court Services, legal services and community organisations. Women may also self-refer.
This is a part-time position of approximately 3 hours per week. The hours can be worked flexibly, so long as WAM’s needs are met. A combination of time in the office (in Collingwood) and time worked remotely is possible.
This role provides an opportunity to help a community sector organisation that supports vulnerable women in their early stages of contact with the criminal justice system.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Police Check (at WAM’s cost).
