About Us

Springvale Monash Legal Service (‘SMLS’) is a not-for-profit community legal service that has been providing free legal services for over 40 years. SMLS’ vision is to lead in shaping a fairer future for our community through accessibility and engagement.  We do this by offering free, confidential legal advice to members of our diverse community.

We also work in partnership with communities in the South East of Melbourne to find solutions for issues that affect them, and work together to address systemic disadvantage.  While we provide legal assistance to individuals, we recognise that structural inequalities cannot be addressed through casework alone.

Using a preventive approach, we undertake community development projects, provide legal education and contribute to law reform to strengthen our community.  Community development plays a key role in our work towards a legal system which is fair and accessible for all.

About the Position

We are seeking a Volunteer Communications (Digital Media) to develop and implement online content for SMLS’ social media platforms which promotes our projects, services and programs, ensuring a strong on-line presence. The key objective of the role is to develop and enhance external communications capacity and representation of the organisation.  This position reports to the Manager Strategic and Community Development and liaises with other staff members.

We are seeking someone who is a great communicator, passionate, enthusiastic, proactive, and seeking to gain experience and exposure in creating on-line content for a not for profit organisation in a social justice setting.  You will be currently studying a Bachelor in Communications (Digital Media) or equivalent and have been exposed to a variety of social media platforms.
