Volunteer Counsellors

ACON’s here to help LGBTI people and people with HIV take control of their mental health.

We are seeking experienced or newly qualified volunteer counsellors to work within our LGBTI Counselling Program.

Our volunteer counsellors see clients one night a week, providing one-to-one, short term therapeutic counselling to clients. They may draw upon a range of modalities or methodologies in their therapeutic work that complements the philosophy of harm reduction and a person-centred approach.

Volunteer counsellors are provided with monthly group clinical supervision and two professional development sessions each year to increase their capacity to work with HIV and LGBTI clients.
