About the Role

Greenlight Movement (GLM) is a learn to drive mentor program for disadvantaged young people aged 16-24 years who do not have a parent, guardian or responsible adult to support them to achieve their 120 hours of required supervised driving in order to obtain their provisional licence. The Greenlight Movement provides disadvantaged young people with a lifelong skill whilst also improving their chances of finding meaningful employment and promoting independence. The support from our Volunteer Mentors is crucial for the success of the program, which operates by pairing up a learner driver with a Volunteer Mentor for a 2 hour lesson each week in a supplied Greenlight vehicle.  In addition to an insured and fuelled car, Greenlight also provides training and on-going support. The role is in the Fairfield area. Essential Criteria:

  • Ability to convey patience and a calm attitude
  • Good decision making ability
  • Ability to inspire confidence in others
  • Hold a Current full NSW drivers Licence
  • A positive driving record
  • Willingness to undergo a Working with Children’s Check
  • Ability to drive and provide instruction to a learner

What you get out of being a mentor:

  • Opportunity to build a positive relationship
  • Build on your teaching and mentoring skills
  • Training and support provided
  • A fun and enjoyable experience with a clear goal to work towards

Your involvement with GLM will help a young person:

  • Reach their goals
  • Complete required 120 hours “on road” driving hours
  • Assist in growing their confidence
  • Get and opportunity that wouldn’t be possible without your help!
