About the role
Engineers Without Borders Australia is a young, energetic organisation that is all about creating positive change through humanitarian engineering.
The overarching vision for EWB’s International Program is for everyone to have access to the services they need to lead a life of opportunity, free from poverty.
With programs based in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Vanuatu, EWB fosters long-term relationships with community organisations and supports long term Field Professional placements focused on building individual, organisational and sector-wide capacity through mentorship, human-centred design, education and training
WaterAid is an international NGO dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest communities. Since 2005 WaterAid in Timor-Leste has been implementing rural community WASH programs in Liquiça and Manufahi Districts in partnership with 4 local NGOs. WaterAid works closely with the local and national government agencies to assist them with the ongoing provision of WASH services to communities. Use your water systems design and project management skills to support and strengthen the capacity of WaterAid staff, local partner organisations and community members in community water supply and sanitation planning, design, management and community based water safety planning.
Assist WaterAid Timor-Leste in the development, training and implementation of newly developed initiatives as a part program effectiveness unit support to the district program teams and partners. The EWB placement will also contribute to innovative technology development along with other team members.
These professional placements are voluntary, however an allowance is provided to support a modest but comfortable standard of living covering general day-to-day expenses and accommodation. Other costs such as Pre-Departure Training, airfares, insurance, language lessons and visas are also covered.
