About the role
A Youth Street Teams member will work as part of a team of 20, who split into groups of 4 and head out in the city of Melbourne, on Friday or Saturday nights from 11pm until 5am and connect with vulnerable and intoxicated young people. The role of a team member is to assist their team to positively engage with young people who are out in the city, see how their night is going, hand out water, lollipops and thongs to girls with no shoes. Teams also assist people to get public tranport home, provide them with a temporary chillout zone to recuperate or vehicle transport home to make sure they are safe. The program runs every Friday and Saturday night, but volunteers can come out as often or as little as they like.
