ZAMBIA | FINANCE VOLUNTEER @ Legal NGO for Juvenile Prisoners

Accounting for International Development offers every type of accountant, from anywhere in the world the opportunity to use their skills to support a broad range of non-profit organisations globally. Volunteer Accounting Assignments of between 2 weeks and 6 months form part of our ongoing strategy to build the financial management capacity of charities in over 50 countries.

Our partner exists to support juvenile prisoners, the majority of whom are male, who have become lost within and are now in conflict with the justice system of Zambia.

Provisions for the young boys were scarce so the founder began by arranging donations of blankets and other goods, this progressed to chatting to the boys and going to visit them regularly at weekends.

The organisation organises activities for the boys including educational and sporting activities throughout the week and are planning to install a computer lab next year. The founder provides legal representation and matches them to pro bono lawyers who monitor their cases, provide legal guidance and representation and secure court dates. They also run advocacy for system reform in the local and wider Zambian community, running a regular radio programme and collecting donations in the community.

You will help with financial reporting and presenting financial information for funding proposals. They would like to create templates for creating budgets and business plans which can be adapted for different proposals. You will also be reviewing the progress of their new Accounts Assistant and provide more training and coaching.

We are closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19. All overseas volunteer placements will be arranged for when it is safe for both the volunteer and charity partner to go ahead.
