How Pro Bono Australia’s Salary Survey Can Help You Offer Competitive Salaries

Enter Pro Bono Australia’s Salary Survey. Pro Bono Australia has been producing an annual overview of salaries and benefits in the for-purpose sector for twelve years and has risen to become the recognised leader in this space. This year’s Salary Survey is based on responses submitted by more than 60,000 representatives on small, medium and large not for profit organisations across Australia – resulting in a comprehensive compendium of remuneration data spanning 37 positions for-purpose recruitment professionals.

How to use the Salary Survey

The Salary Survey is designed to be an easy method of benchmarking and comparing salary data.

It is broken down into major components including base salary, superannuation, car allowance/package, phone allowance, other allowances, professional registrations, bonuses and incentives. This allows for in depth comparisons to be made between roles and individual packages.

To use the Salary Survey:

1. Select the closest role to the one you want to benchmark, paying attention to the tier of the role (e.g. tier one in the survey is the highest level in the organisation).

2. Select similar sized organisations to yours to compare up-to-date salaries, using data on organisational size.

3. Select which salary measure you want to use, e.g. total remuneration or base salary.

4. Check the market median to work out your competitiveness.

5. Explore other data for within the survey for greater context.

It’s important not to just match the market; as a recruitment manager you must factor in the performance and experience of the individual at hand, as well as considering your organisation’s capacity to pay the salary under consideration.

Why this is important
The Pro Bono Australia Salary Survey is vital for organisations that want to position themselves at the head of the for-purpose and not for profit employment market. By offering data-driven, researched remuneration, based on the most up-to-date industry insights, your organisation can stand out from the crowd – and win over the best talent to take you forward.
