About inhousing

inhousing’s purpose is to improve the lives of people with disability by creating quality homes, developing inclusive technology and building inclusive neighbourhoods.

Our 2024-27 Strategic Plan outlines how we will do this through five key focus areas: amplifying tenant voice, leading quality homes of choice, strengthening community connection, advocating for sustainable homes, and fostering inclusive workplaces.

All our work is driven by a commitment to rights-based inclusion guided by the principles of:

  • Personhood: People with disability can exercise personal authority.
  • Citizenhood: People with disability are active citizens in the life of the community.
  • Capacity building: The capacity of people with disability is enhanced, at the level of the individual, and the family and the community.

About the role

Would you like to be part of a movement to create a fully inclusive society?

Do you think segregation of people with disability is just wrong?

Do you care deeply about the rights of people with disability?

If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, then we want you to join our Board!

Your impact

As an inhousing board member, you have an opportunity to make a difference by:

  • Providing strategic-level oversight of our work, which aims to place our tenants at the heart of everything we do.

  • Shaping an inclusive organisation where our people feel inspired, valued and supported to learn, grow and contribute.

Your role

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from people with expertise in technology and/or property/construction.

Board member responsibilities include:

  • Attending and actively contributing to board meetings (virtually and in person).
  • Contributing to and reviewing organisation strategic plans and risk management.
  • Ensuring that business decisions align with our values.
  • Ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of our organisation.
  • Overseeing the CEO and ensuring work is undertaken in a way that supports the board’s legal responsibilities.
