Organisation Name : Victorian AIDS Council (VAC)
VAC grew out of and works closely with those communities most affected by HIV in Victoria. It is constituted by two legally distinct incorporated associations - the Victorian AIDS Council and the Gay Men’s Health Centre - which work together under the co-governance of a single Board of Directors (the Board) whose members are elected by the membership of each of the two organisations. VAC aims to improve the health and social and emotional well-being of the Victorian HIV positive and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities, with a particular investment in bringing the HIV/AIDS epidemic to an end. To achieve this aim, VAC:  Deliver HIV prevention, education and health promotion to gay men.  Provide services, support and advocacy for all people living with HIV.  Respond to emerging needs and developments in HIV prevention and care.  Support and promote the health and wellbeing of sexually and gender diverse communities.  Promote access to our services for these communities. About the role

The Policy Analyst will be expected to:

• Work to advance the organisation’s strategic plan, policy priorities and advocacy objectives;
• Participate in policy and advocacy initiatives, including but not limited to HIV and ageing, GLBTI health and wellbeing, Melbourne Declaration commitments, HIV treatment as prevention, HIV and the law, rapid testing;
• Prepare high quality written materials including policy briefings, policy consultation submissions, position papers, grant proposals, press releases and public statements concerning HIV/AIDS, GLBTI health and human rights.
