About the role
The role
This is a full-time (38 hours per week), based in Sydney. You’ll be working in a collaborative environment; the role spans Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific and covers a portfolio of endangered species and habitat conservation projects.
Specifically, this role develops and coordinates plans to deliver on priority species conservation programmes – from native wildlife through to wildlife trade. Key stakeholders include but are not limited to governments, agencies, local communities, industry sectors and other organisations and NGOs working in this region, with the common goal to support wildlife conservation and animal welfare initiatives.
Developing strategic relationships with key decision makers and individuals to support this work is therefore key; as is research, securing partnerships and helping to implement on-ground activities to help achieve IFAW’s vision, ensuring that all solutions are delivered with intelligence, compassion and integrity. A genuine commitment to both animal welfare and conservation is a must if you are to help us achieve the goal.
About you
You’ll have sharp research and analytical skills which you can use to formulate advocacy positions and influence change. You will be adept at working independently as well as bringing people together, eliciting ideas and knowledge and driving solutions as part of a team. You will be comfortable networking and liaising at all levels of government and a variety of different stakeholders within the sector. You’ll understand that the animal welfare and conservation area can be challenging and you will have the resilience to work through competing views and approaches to find common ground so that you can advocate effectively for change and outcomes that benefit animals and their environment.
