About the organisation
Philanthropy Australia is the national peak body for philanthropy. We are an independent organisation of trusts, foundations, organisations, families, individual donors, professional advisers, intermediaries and not-for-profits as our membership. Our purpose is to serve the philanthropic community to achieve more and better philanthropy. We do this through:

Our role is to support the philanthropic efforts of its membership, and this is achieved through: Leading and representing the philanthropic sector; Promoting the contribution of philanthropy by increasing understanding in the community, business and government; Inspiring and supporting new & emerging philanthropists; Increasing the effectiveness of philanthropy through the provision of information, professional development, resources and networking opportunities; and Promoting strong and transparent governance standards in the philanthropic sector.
About the role
The Advocacy & Insight Manager is a leadership role that steers Philanthropy Australia’s policy advocacy activities, working directly to influence Australia’s policy and regulatory framework which supports more and better philanthropy.
You will cultivate Philanthropy Australia’s relations with governments, elected representatives, departmental officials and other relevant stakeholders in the policy development ecosystem. You will develop & prepare policy submissions to government, engage with decision makers and influencers, and represent Philanthropy Australia on relevant advisory and consultative bodies.
You will be highly engaged with Philanthropy Australia’s members, developing our policy positions; and you will be skilled in presenting to members about policy developments and the impact on them. You will manage specific research projects, and collate and share insights and information about trends and development within the greater philanthropic landscape.
You will have extensive policy development and advocacy experience, ideally with a specific focus on the giving and not-for-profit sector. You understand the policy and regulatory framework that activates philanthropy, and remain updated on current issues in the philanthropy sector. You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and enhanced relationship management capabilities. Key to success is your time management, project planning, strong written & oral communications, with experience the preparation of policy submission and publications for diverse public audiences. You are Microsoft proficient.
