About the role

Better Caring is a disruptor in the health tech sector, transforming the aged care and disability support sectors, by providing the first online marketplace where Australians can find and directly hire the support they need. We are looking for a General Manager, Community Engagement, to lead our national team of Community Engagement Managers. You will be an expert in aged care and disability support sectors in Australia and passionate about transforming the lives of clients and workers in the sector. This is an opportunity to take a key role in a dynamic and ambitious start-up that is already attracting a great level of interest and investment.
This role is to create and execute the national community engagement strategy to ensure that Better Caring is the preeminent solution for consumers who want to self-direct their support. You will be a key member of the Better Caring leadership team, and will use industry and local insights gathered from your team of Community Engagement Managers to drive business decisions.
This role involves:
Strategic Leadership – develop successful national strategies using local insights to lead a team that will engage with consumers and existing industry players to grow the number of consumers using our platform
Product Management – work cross-functionally with the customer engagement and engineering teams to ensure the Better Caring platform and offering meets the needs of our consumers and support workers
People management – use your exceptional communication skills to drive and motivate a high-performing team to deliver on aggressive growth targets
Industry Insight– keep abreast of industry changes and position Better Caring to take advantage of new regulations, innovations and approaches in the sector.
Your background:
You are a visionary, an exceptional networker and communicator with strong business acumen and leadership skills. You have detailed knowledge of and experience within disability and or aged care services and want to make a difference. You have the drive and determination to lead change and meet aggressive growth targets, and experience creating successful strategies. Your key skills and experiences are:
- High levels of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.
- Self-motivated and high level of initiative.
- Ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to problems.
- Exceptional ability to engage and communicate to groups of people, tailoring communication to suit a specific target group or age range.
- Ability to lead and motivate a national team to reach deliverable targets.
- Broad knowledge of the range of services available to people in the local government, aged, disability health, education sectors, along with an understanding of Consumer Directed Care reforms and the NDIS.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines
