Policy Analyst
Jobs Australia is the national peak body for not-for-profit employment and community services organisations. Representing members in every State and Territory our Policy team provide expert advice and advocate on members behalf to all levels of government.
As we look towards the future of employment and community services we are looking to expand our Policy team to provide the best support possible to our members, influence the broader social policy agenda and make a positive difference for unemployed people.
The role is responsible for developing Jobs Australia’s policy and positioning and analysing developments in Commonwealth & State Governments’ labour market policies & programs. The position works closely with other team members and will also represent Jobs Australia at the State and Federal Government level in various committees and industry events.
Key responsibilities include:
• Work with the experienced policy team to drive development strategies, priorities and positions.
• Proactively work with team members to monitor government, non-government, academic, and other organisations websites/publications and the mainstream and specialist media to identify and analyse information about unemployment and employment services and training in Australia.
• Consult with member organisations about how government policies affect their services to unemployed people and their business sustainability.
• Create news updates, policy briefings, reports and information resources for Jobs Australia member organisations.
• Contribute to the design and participate in the delivery of training and development workshops for member organisations.
Policy and advocacy is a key service area for the Jobs Australia team and we are looking for an individual who has, or can demonstrate an ability to quickly acquire, an in-depth understanding of Commonwealth and State employment and related programs and policies as well as welfare, employment and general social policies and approaches. You will be a dynamic and agile individual with experience in policy work, who can work closely with the Senior Manager Policy and peers in driving our approach and ensuring we have a positive impact.
