About the role
- Based in Bankstown – frequent travel is required to various SSI sites
- Contract to December 2019
- Part Time – work a 30 hour week!
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Community Hub Team Leader (CHTL) provides coordination, liaison and support functions for up to 12 Hubs in a designated geographic area of West Sydney.
Community Hubs aim to engage culturally diverse communities and primarily help migrant and refugee families with preschool and primary school aged children. They connect families with each other, with their school and with existing services, including local organisations that can provide education, health and settlement support. Hub Leaders work collaboratively with families, and school and community centre staff to develop programs that respond to local needs and build families’ confidence, skills and knowledge of child development and parenting. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Monitor data collection and reporting to ensure accurate and comprehensive records that reflect Program priorities and SSI Policy and Procedures
- Provide administration supervision to Hub Leaders, including monitoring additional Hub Leader hours worked and associated records and reporting to payroll
- Provide leadership support to Hub Leaders with regards to planning and managing programs at their relevant hubs/schools
- Organise team meetings on a regular basis to help Hub Leaders participate in professional discussions and development, to boost team spirit and to increase the effectiveness of decision-making
- Ensure consistently high-level services are provided across Hub sites to migrant and refugee families
- Ensure compliance with specified budgetary parameters
SELECTION CRITERIA
- Degree or Diploma in Community Development/Social Science/ or related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience in working with CALD communities in particular, recently arrived migrants and refugees.
- Experience in a team management/team leader role in the community services or education sectors
- Experience in application of community development principals and community capacity building
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage networks and maintain stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrated experience in drafting reports
- High level administration and IT skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- In depth understanding of the needs of and strategies for working with and engaging people from CALD communities
- A valid NSW driver’s licence
