SVA’s Strategy & Advocacy team supports SVA to achieve its mission by improving SVA’s practical knowledge about reducing disadvantage. Our Policy and Advocacy work drives SVA’s systems change agenda taking insights from SVA’s work and using them to influence government policy and sector practice to become more effective and reduce disadvantage. Strategy implementation supports the delivery of SVA’s 2020 Strategy.

The position

SVA has a rare and rewarding opportunity for a Chief Strategy Officer to lead the Strategy & Advocacy team in supporting SVA to achieve its mission by improving SVA’s practical knowledge about reducing disadvantage. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and operating as part of the SVA’s Executive Committee, key elements of the position include leading SVA’s efforts to inform policy and practice to achieve system change and reduce disadvantage, with a focus on developing and using SVA’s knowledge within key Practice Areas. The position also plays a key role overseeing the development and implementation of SVA’s business planning process and key strategic initiatives to deliver on SVA’s 2020 strategy.

Who you are

You will come to the role with outstanding executive and high-level leadership across strategy development, management and entrepreneurial functions. Known for your experience of operating within a multi-stakeholder environment, your ability to build and enhance a range of sustainable relationships with stakeholders and influencers will be key to your success. Able to lead multi disciplinary teams across multiple locations, you will have an informed understanding of SVA’s perspectives on reducing disadvantage in Australia and the drivers to achieving system change.

This truly unique senior leadership position provides exposure to challenging and rewarding opportunities across the social sector, working on society’s most important challenges. You will collaborate with a highly committed team with wide-ranging expertise in Strategy & Advocacy. The focus of this role will see you forging close relationships with a breadth of highly engaged stakeholders across the sector. You will join a senior executive team with extensive experience across both the commercial and social sectors, local and international experience and an unwavering commitment to better outcomes for people in need in Australia.
