Salvation Army Housing (Victoria) (SAHV) provides a range of housing throughout the state of Victoria. As an integral part of the SAHV Housing team, Housing Worker will be responsible for providing tenancy and property management based in Sunshine.

About the role:

The Housing Worker is responsible for tenancy and property management in line with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), whilst ensuring awareness of tenant and landlord roles and responsibilities. The role is responsible for all aspects of Community Housing, including selection of tenants / residents, preparation of legal paper work (such as lease agreements, notices etc), liaising with relevant stakeholders in relation to tenancies, attending to property maintenance, addressing tenancy disputes etc.

The Housing Worker will ensure at all times that SAHV managed properties are of good standard and will respond to landlord responsibilities in a timely manner.  The role is expected to liaise with a diverse client cohort and the community housing sector. The role reports to the Housing Coordinator.

Specialist and job competencies:

• Knowledge or understanding of social housing programs, such as Transitional Housing Management program and / or Community Housing.
• Knowledge or understating of Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) and legislative requirement of the RTA through the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT)
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships, address complex situations and resolve complaints through negotiation skills
• Ability to ensure good data and record keeping through regular monitoring and reviewing
• Ability to work autonomously, yet escalate matters and communicate effectively to the Housing Coordinator

Mandatory requirements:

• Victorian License
• Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)
• The successful candidate will preferably have experience in Social Housing, and/or a qualification.

The position is available full-time on a 38 hour week. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Social Community Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award covered position, Social Stream, Level 4. The salary is complemented by Salary Packaging.
